Dr Preena Uppal MBBS, MD, FRACP

Dr Uppal is a clinician who has more than 12 years experience working and training in paediatrics.   Dr Preena Uppal trained through the Sydney Children’s Hospital’s Network (Randwick and Westmead). She holds dual qualifications as a specialist in both General Paediatrics and Paediatric Neurology.   

Dr Uppal has expertise in paediatric conditions affecting newborns, children and adolescents. Her particular interests include neurological conditions, behaviour disorders, developmental delay including delayed speech and motor milestones and early detection of cerebral palsy. She currently works in private and public sectors in Sydney. She was a clinical fellow at SCH in both general neurology and epilepsy. 

 Dr Uppal is a Research Fellow at the Department of Paediatric Neurology, Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick, with an interest in epilepsy. She is a part of the NSW Acute Seizure Management committee and has co-authored the state seizure management guidelines.   Dr Uppal regularly attends relevant conferences and is an active member of the Australian and Newzealand society of neurologists and fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (RACP). She is a Conjoint Lecturer at the School of Women’s and Child Health, University of New South Wales.  
 
Being a parent herself Dr Uppal is compassionate, listens and provides evidence-based and up to date information to the families. She offers appointments on Saturdays to decrease the impact of medical visits on parents work and school.  She works in partnership with the families, and guides through each step of the child’s journey, to help achieve the best possible outcome.
